Ally Salort: The little known town in New Jersey that's leaving it's mark on music

From Lauryn Hill to SZA, and now to Ally Salort, the small town of Maplewood, New Jersey has produced some incredible musical talents. This little-known town may not be as well-known as other musical hotspots like Nashville or Los Angeles, but it has certainly left its mark on the music industry.

Salort knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue music and was already performing covers of classic tracks by The Beatles, Sting, Carole King, and Fleetwood Mac at the age of 8.

At age 14, Salort saw an ad for a talent search by Atlantic Records and was selected as one of the 13 finalists. She was flown to LA to perform for record executives but was ultimately told to travel back to New Jersey and work on developing her sound. And that's exactly what she did. Salort uploaded countless covers of modern tracks to YouTube and gained a following over the span of 4 years.

In 2020, Salort was spotted by record labels once again and signed with Geffen Records by the start of 2022. Her first studio single, "Dreamliner," was released almost a year ago and showcases Salort's unique sound that combines the soulful feel of classic tracks with the pop and R&B sound of modern artists like Hill and SZA.

Salort's musical journey is a testament to the power of hard work and determination. Despite setbacks and rejection, she continued to develop her sound and create music that speaks to her experiences. And she's not done yet. Salort has hinted at a debut EP that could be coming later this year, and if "Dreamliner" is any indication, it's set to be an exciting listen!
