Mangos mit Chili - Nina Chuba
Nina Chuba: Delivering a debut album that matches the heights of Wildberry Lillet
Being an expat in Austria has its perks, and one of them is discovering songs that have become massive hits there but are relatively unknown outside the country. Last August, a track titled Wildberry Lillet was released, and it immediately caught the attention of music lovers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, going on to top the charts in all three countries. The artist behind the song seemed to have a promising future, and the release of her debut album, Glas, confirmed it.
Nina Chuba is an artist from Hamburg, Germany, whose music journey actually began in English in 2019, with tracks that had a Billie Eilish vibe. But it wasn't until she switched to German in 2021 that she found her audience with solo singles and smart collaborations. Her music caught the attention of German band Provinz, and they collaborated on the track Zorn & Liebe, which I had the pleasure of hearing live with an audience that knew every lyric. Both songs proved that Nina Chuba had an audience that knew her music and set the stage for the release of her album Glas.
Glas is a diverse album that captures the essence of Nina Chuba's sound, ranging from hip-hop and pop to dancehall and reggae. Her pop sound has a Billie Eilish edge to it, while her dance tracks have a Rosalía vibe, with racing beats and catchy choruses. The album features another collaboration with Provinz, as well as the smash hit Wildberry Lillet, and captures the essence of her unique style.
The One of One today, Mangos mit Chili, is a catchy track from that debut album, with a dancehall beat that will get you moving.
Whether you're an English or German speaker, I would highly recommend checking out Nina Chuba's debut album. It's a diverse and dynamic album that showcases the best of her unique style and talent.
