Ice Cream Man. - RAYE

RAYE: Independent, empowered & finally free to tell her story on ‘My 21st Century Blues’

London singer RAYE has released her highly anticipated debut album, which is a culmination of nine years of storytelling. Her debut album is a collection of genres mixing house, pop, blues, and dancehall, all into one. She has found a balance between classic jazz and chart-topping hooks, touching on subjects of addiction, insecurity, body dysmorphia, and sexual assault.

After breaking ties with her label, Polydor, due to being pushed back on her album once more, RAYE finally has control of her narrative. She's telling stories that a lot of women can unfortunately relate with, but in a way that's brave, empowering, and captivating. Her storytelling has always prevailed, but mainly as songwriting credits on other artists' songs, such as Beyonce, Charli XCX, and John Legend.

The album has many stand-out tracks, but "Ice Cream Man." is a particularly powerful one. It's a track that really showcases RAYE's voice and ability to use it in a way that will help a lot of people. It's one of the standout tracks on a debut album filled with stories and proves that RAYE is more than just supporting vocals.

Her storytelling is brave, empowering, and captivating, and after breaking ties with her label, she finally has control of her narrative.
