F64 - Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran pays tribute to the late Jamal Edwards by re-launching F64.

Ed Sheeran has released a new track on SBTV, a channel founded by the late Jamal Edwards, who passed away last year at the age of 31. The track, titled "F64," is a tribute to Edwards, who was a close friend of Sheeran's and played a significant role in launching his career.

Edwards was a pioneer in the UK music scene, building a platform for upcoming artists to showcase their talents through his channel SBTV. He started uploading videos to YouTube at just 15 years old, and his channel quickly gained a reputation for featuring the music of his friends, many of whom were not getting recognition in mainstream media.

In particular, Edwards helped give a face to grime music, which was not allowed to be performed in 2006 due to a risk assessment bill that limited the reach of performers. Through SBTV, Jamal Edwards helped build the careers of many UK artists, including Dave, Skepta, J Hus, Stormzy, Jessie J, Emilie Sande, and of course Ed Sheeran.

Sheeran himself has stated that his career wouldn't be where it is today without Edwards. In 2010, Sheeran's video for "You Need Me, I Don't Need You" became one of the most popular videos on SBTV, which led to him meeting his manager Stuart Camp and signing with Atlantic Records.

Edwards' impact on the UK music scene is undeniable, and his legacy continues to inspire many. He also gained an MBE from the queen, became an ambassador for The Princes Trust, and set up his own charity JED, which helped fund youth centres across the UK.

In the video for "F64," Sheeran performs at Chelsea Football Ground, Edwards' favourite club, in the handheld style that SBTV is known for. It is a heartfelt tribute to a friend and mentor, and a reminder of Edwards' far-reaching impact on British culture.
