Fall Out Boy is back with a bang! Five years after their last release, the band has returned with a new song that is genuinely one of the best songs I've ever heard from them. It's 2023, and it's been 20 years since the band formed, yet they're bringing out their best material now. It's insane!
The intro to their new song, "Love From The Other Side", is incredibly dramatic. You already know you're about to listen to something big. I had chills before the vocals even kicked in, and then the drums start, and immediately my volume was up by 10. It was just like, I guess you hear so many like drumpads these days, the moment you hear real racing drums and the first power chord in the track, it just goes so hard.
Fall Out Boy said they were planning to get back to the way they used to work, which is why it's taken five years for an album. They even teamed up once again with Neal Avron who hasn't produced an album for them since 2008, and signed once again with the label Fueled by Ramen who they haven't been with since their debut album in 2003.
Over the last decade, Fall Out Boy have spent the last decade doing everything other than what was expected of them. They ventured into pop, they experimented with different ideas, and don't get me wrong, I've been a fan throughout. But to see them steering the ship with the wind in the sails and going full steam ahead into not only what made them successful, but what they're genuinely good at and in a way that doesn't feel nostalgic or stale but instead pulls those elements that they've found of themselves in the last few albums, is just amazing. They've added those strings and made the track cinematic to a level that they couldn't achieve in the noughties. It's everything I could have hoped for, an instant click, and I'm so excited for March 24th when their new album comes out.
