Jungle - Fred Again..

2022 Review: Fred Again.. pioneered this year's renaissance of dance music.

Starting with my first highlight of the year, I have to talk about what I see as the main theme of 2022: people coming together and celebrating. After a year of isolation, it's no surprise that music reflects a culture of people meeting up, traveling, collaborating.. and partying. Clubs are open, gigs are back, and people are dancing. DJs who spent the last two years learning how to make beats and use drum machines are finally getting to show off their skills. And one man who's been leading the charge in the renaissance of dance music this year is Fred Again.

This guy isn't new to the music scene. He's spent the last decade producing and writing music for artists like Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Burna Boy, and even Swedish House Mafia. He even won Producer of the Year at the Brit Awards in 2020. But it was in 2019 that he really started his solo career, and over the past couple of years his music has slowly gained traction until having its moment in 2022, a year all about dance.

I was going to do a rundown of my favorite songs of 2022, but it's so hard to pick just one over the others. But I can say pretty definitively that my favorite song of the year is Jungle by Fred Again. It captures all the energy and excitement that I want to remember this year for.
