Nobody Knows (Ladas Road) - Loyle Carner

2022 Review: Loyle Carner's 'hugo' builds on production yet retains raw emotion.

Loyle Carner has a way of infusing jazz sounds with a poetic and emotional message that really resonates with me. His previous albums, "Yesterday's Gone" and "Not Waving, But Drowning” are great examples of this, and his latest album, "hugo" is no exception.

"hugo" feels like a more mature and refined version of Loyle Carner's sound. While he still incorporates the instrumentals and samples that make his music so unique, he manages to create a deeper and more direct sound on this album. And "Nobody Knows” in particular, is a standout track for me. The piano sample on this track is subtle yet impactful, and the lyrics are so relatable and meaningful. It's one of those tracks that you can't just put on in the background, you really have to listen to the words.
