Own My Mind - Måneskin

Måneskin's new album "RUSH!" shows they're sticking around for the journey

Rock music has seen a lack of great bands in recent years, and it's a shame that many gatekeepers are preventing people from enjoying the ones that are here today. One of these bands is Måneskin, the Italian rock band that formed in Rome in 2016. The band is made up of vocalist Damiano David, bassist Victoria De Angelis, guitarist Thomas Raggi, and drummer Ethan Torchio. They rose to prominence after finishing second in the eleventh season of the Italian talent show X Factor in 2017, and their international breakthrough ensued when the foursome won the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 for Italy with the song "Zitti e buoni".

Måneskin’s new album, "Rush!", is a perfect example of what a great rock album should be. It's fun, it's the full archetype of rock, and it even mixes in the elements of English and Italian that they have in them growing into the global spotlight, but remaining rooted to home. It's filled with the quality of a band that's here to stay.

One of the most striking things about Måneskin’s music is that they're not trying to fit into any particular mold. They're not punk, they're not pop, they're just music freaks. They're constantly changing and evolving, and it's clear that they're influenced by a wide range of other music. They understand that they don't need to fit into the molds that other people are creating for them, they don't need to listen to other's opinions on what "good" rock music is. They're able to listen to fans, see their reactions in real time and create music that is simply enjoyable.

The song "Own My Mind" is a perfect example of the band's style. It has all the elements of a great rock track, the breakdown, the catchy chorus, the guitars and power drums. It's a consuming track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The album features well-known tracks such as "MammaMia", "Supermodel", and "The Loneliest" as well as several new songs.

It's sad that many people are waiting for Måneskin to fail, instead of enjoying the music. The band is of a new generation, they're here to stay, and they're a refreshing addition to the rock music scene.
