BUNT.’s production journey on ‘Clouds’ creates an atmosphere to get lost in.
Today's One of One comes from the German artist BUNT. The artist started this podcast with the idea of creating a radio show that was digestible enough for commutes or any journey. Each podcast is around 10 minutes and the idea is that even if not every song hits you, sometimes there'll be a track that completely changes your mood for the day and puts you in a good step. The artist hopes that this happens at least sometimes.
One of the artist's favorite moments when it comes to music is whenever he or she is travelling on a quiet bus or train, late at night, when there's just a few people. With headphones on, a track comes on randomly that you just get totally lost in. You turn the volume up to full, close your eyes and just let it transport you into another world. And then the track ends, and you take off the headphones and realize everything around is the same, everything around you is still silent. But you've just been in a total different dimension of music.
At 4 o'clock in the morning, just before Christmas, BUNT was taking a train from Hamburg to his hometown of Stuttgart in Germany. He heard this track from this other artist called Nate Traveller that had this really laid-back approach and he was then inspired to build a song around just this one long drawn out line in that track. By the end of that 6-hour train journey, the song was complete. All in a period, where he could watch the day turn from dark to light, see the sunrise as rush hour passed, and commuters made their way to work. And just watch the world go by, as this track came to life.
It's hard to imagine the feeling that BUNT must have had when he took those headphones off and heard the normal quiet hum of the train around him, yet had created a track that could take you to another world. The One of One today is Clouds by BUNT.
BUNT is on a successful run of tracks at the moment. Last week, we played Lane 8 and also the new Skrillex tracks. As stated before, this kind of trance music is just in a lane of its own right now. To a point where we're hearing multiple summer tracks here in the middle of January. Maybe it's the spring-like weather we're having, I don't know. Our One of One today is BUNT with Clouds.
