Hot and Clumsy - Quiet Houses
Quiet Houses produce a coming of age smash with Hot and Clumsy.
Quiet Houses is a duo that met in Edinburgh and went on to study in Manchester. If there's one thing to know about being a student in Manchester, or the north in general, it's that the nights out are on a different level. My friends who went to Manchester came out as different people because of the abundance of students from various universities in the city. When you've just left home for the first time and you're going to house parties with a bunch of people from different places, there's a certain glow about those nights. You get to be whoever you want to be and meet new people, but the same questions come up again and again: "Where are you from? What are you studying? Where are you now living?"
Quiet Houses have captured this coming-of-age experience in their new track, Hot and Clumsy. The verses tell the story before diving headfirst into a chorus that feels like it's floating through the vocals and guitar riffs. They sing through that awkwardness in a style that's intoxicating but shimmering, in an intertwined way that only a duo like this could. Because these guys studied in the social city that is Manchester, but they come from a city that's known for its beauty. The track is their first release since their debut EP a year ago, and it's a lead up to their brand new EP, Since July. Today's One of One is Hot and Clumsy by Quiet Houses.
